The Divine Conspiracy: Rediscovering Our Hidden Life in God

Author: Dallas Willard
Publisher: San Francisco: Harper San Francisco, 1998
Category: Purpose, Self-Control

Synopsis: Dallas Willard is convinced that God is not merely interested in saving people from hell so much as He is in redeeming and then reshaping them to mirror His image properly. In other words, Jesus is involved in a Divine conspiracy to take over the way we think, speak, and live. Christianity, therefore, is far from just a rescue from eternal danger. It is also the living of a new life that is shaped by the leadership and desires of Jesus.

Value: If you read the covers or inner leaves of any book you might find comments that claim the greatness of that book. Most of the time, these comments are hype designed to get you to buy the book. The Divine Conspiracy offers little hype and a whole lot of substance. You might not agree with everything that Willard says, but he has a big vision of God, a high standard for God’s people, and a thoroughly-processed idea to share. Read this one slowly, chew on it over the course of a long time, and you will walk away stuffed.
