Spiritual Leadership: Principles of Excellence for Every Believer
Author: J. Oswald Sanders
Publisher: 3rd Edition. Chicago: Moody Press, 1994. 166 pages
Category: Authority, Self-Control
Synopsis: During his international preaching ministry, J. Oswald Sanders seized an opportunity to give a series of lectures in Singapore in 1964 and 1966. His speeches later became the material for this book. Spiritual Leadership is Sanders’ guide to what makes a believer a worthy leader in God’s kingdom. In his own words, Sanders explains the purpose of his book, “The material has been presented in a form that is calculated to be of help even to younger Christians in whose hearts the Holy Spirit is working to create a holy ambition to place all their powers at the disposal of the Redeemer.”
Value: If you only own one book with “Leadership” in the title, other than the Bible, own Sanders’ work. His standards for Christian leaders are extremely high and fair to Scripture. You will not be mislead in your own leadership training if you read this book and take careful notes. As the years pass, his words become wiser and more valuable to the reader. For those of you who burn with that ambition to be used greatly by the Redeemer, learn from one who made the most of his life doing the same thing.
