Synopsis: While there are many resources that help engaged couples prepare for marriage, there are not as many resources dedicated to helping young couples decide and plan to get engaged. William Coleman’s book is an attempt to help dating or courting couples begin the process of communicating their expectations regarding many different life issues that will inevitably affect marriage. Couples utilizing this resource will have a better idea of whether or not they should continue the relationship to the next level of engagement.

Value: The value of this book is not necessarily due to Coleman’s writing prowess or exposition of the Bible. What makes his book unique is that it designed to get couples talking to each other about the important matters of life. He is less concerned about what he wants to say and more concerned about getting the two of you to learn to talk and listen to each other. My wife and I used this book when we were dating and it gave us great clarity and confidence that God would have us take the relationship to the ultimate level of marriage.
