One of the most important journeys that every male must take is the one that crosses the gap between boyhood and manhood. Completing this journey requires intention of purpose, unrelenting tenacity, and courage of heart.
Yet, the sad truth about manhood is that while all boys will eventually become adult males, not every adult male will prove to be a true man. Age alone does not automatically make an adult the kind of trustworthy, responsible, and loving person that a man of God needs to be. A truly substantive man is crafted, trained, and molded by God over the course of many years, and He requires our active cooperation throughout the entire process.
Unfortunately, fewer and fewer males are actually aware that a chasm exists between malehood and manhood. They are not pursuing biblical manhood, which has led to male passivity in the Church, especially the affluent Western churches, broken marriages, negligent parenting, and selfish living.
What the Church needs more than any ministry program or new and dynamic growth strategy is for its men to be God’s men. Those few real men that still remain in the church should be pouring their energy and wisdom into the raising up of more men who will be fit for the work of God’s kingdom.
This website has been created to serve as a catalyst for spurring males into striving for God-honoring manhood. Hopefully, those of us who have struggled and strained to be considered a man for God’s using can provide you the wisdom, courage, and hard-earned experience that is necessary to journey from boyhood to manhood.
We are not perfect. We do not have every area of our life mastered. We won’t pretend to be know-it-alls, but we do think that God-honoring manhood is the calling of every male, and since we have walked before you we want to help. All of the resources on this site are designed to stir your thoughts concerning God’s expectations for His men. You must do the rest. It is up to you to put these thoughts to actions, and we would love to hear from you what God does as a result of your journey.
When the famous evangelist, D.L. Moody was a young male, he was told by the preacher Henry Varley, “The world has yet to see what God will do with and for and through and in and by the man who is fully consecrated to Him.” Pierced by these words, Moody recalled, “he did not say, a great man, nor a ‘smart’ man, but simply ‘a man.’ I am a man, and it lies with the man himself whether he will or will not make that entire and full consecration. I will try my utmost to be that man.” The Lord did indeed use Moody, and we hope that your investment of time at this site will call you up to be that man as well. May God find in you His man for this age!
